A Pakistan coal mine explosion has killed at least 34 miners after a powerful methane gas blast struck a mining complex in Balochistan on Thursday.

The explosion buried sections of the mine in Sorange, a remote area near Quetta. Rescue teams continue searching for two miners who remain trapped underground.

According to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority, emergency crews are working around the clock to recover the remaining miners.

Muhammad Fahad, director of operations, confirmed that rescuers are still attempting to reach two workers trapped inside the collapsed section of the mine.

Officials said the rescue operation is taking place at a depth of approximately 4,000 feet (1,219 metres).
